The 1st May, or May Day has been a Spring festival for over two thousand years. In England traditions come from Anglo-Saxon & Celtic times. Traditionally villages celebrated springtime fertility after the seeding was finished. Celebrations that continue today include Morris dancing, crowning a May Queen & maypole dancing.
